ABOUT

Christopher Gallagher, 30, grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a husband, an Active Duty service member, a son, a brother, and an artist. Christopher began creating art at a young age and, since then, has materialized numerous projects using several different mediums highlighting mental health stigmas, urban exploration, and more.

While he has practiced art as a hobbyist all of his life, Chris's professional artistic ambitions began alongside his friend Nick in March of 2017. Nick and Chris bonded over similar life experiences and their love for creative expression. Together, they spent the better part of the next three years driving around the country exploring forgotten buildings, bringing them back to life in the form of photographs.  His current project is a evolution of the body of work created during that time – rooted in dark, underlying emotions but serving to project light and positivity into the lives of others.

Chris operates as an illustrator, painter, and product designer.

"Art has proven to me that it’s okay not to be okay, so long as you continue to “be.” At its core, the language of expression and true human emotion is a universal one, connecting the hearts and minds of people throughout the entire world.  The AstroBots has become my passion project - an opportunity for me to express myself creatively, but also to use that creativity to generate positive impacts on our Community."

Christopher’s art is a celebration of shared humanity, deeply inspired by his personal experiences with loss, mental health challenges, military service, and the unique complexities of growing up with a terminally ill sibling. As an empath, Christopher often draws not only from his own journey but also from the stories and emotions of those closest to him. His work reflects a fascination with space and the concept of universal connection, imagining life beyond Earth where beings light-years away might navigate heartbreak, joy, and friendship, just as humans do.

Blending influences from contemporary, street, and pop art, Christopher creates vibrant, dynamic compositions featuring original characters inhabiting a fictional, ever-expanding universe. These characters—whether astronauts or his interpretations of extraterrestrials—symbolize all of us. They form bonds and friendships that transcend the trials they face, embodying a sense of adventure and wingmanship. Nostalgic references to childhood cartoons, toys, and scenes of imaginative play invite viewers to revisit their own childlike wonder while exploring the deeper emotions layered within each piece.

Technically, Christopher’s work is recognized for meticulous, sharp-edged paint application, bold contrasts, and hidden details that reward repeated observation. His nearly fluorescent CYMK-inspired palette injects energy and optimism, creating a striking contrast with the emotional complexity of his themes.

At its heart, Christopher’s art serves as a platform for connection and reflection. By transforming personal struggles into universal expressions of hope and resilience, his work encourages viewers to adopt a position of objective reflection and consider how emotions and experiences shape the human condition. Through his creations, Christopher aims to inspire dialogue, evoke introspection, and bridge the gap between art, imagination, and shared humanity.
